I'll admit to not knowing a whole hell of a lot about Steampunk. This may be the first and last time I ever say I don't know much about something. Just because I don't know a ton though, doesn't mean I can't be interested in it. I think the movie Wild Wild West intrigued me originally and gave me a hankering for more steam-powered technological inventions. Good movie by the way. I kind of like that Will Smith guy. One of the important aspects of Steampunk is the suit. Typically the most prominent person or group of people in a Steampunk setting are wearing suits of some kind. Because it's alternate history though, they aren't always accurate to what we wear. Nonetheless, I think this movement has helped introduce and popularize the usage of suits to the younger generation. They may have seen suits as something that was uncool or something that was linked to "The Man." And when you aren't "The Man," you have a much better chance of not liking him, or so I've heard.
To appreciate and share the the success stories of wearing suits. Failure doesn't factor in when a suit is involved.

Steampunk's Impact
Steampunk: An imaginary Victorian age, that features brass and copper clockwork and steampowered inventions that go far beyond 1800's technology. Steam powered mechanical wonders, optimistic gear driven computers, dirigibles, clockwork firsts, and stuff like that. (But don't forget the goggles.)

ReplyDelete... That sounded less retarded in my head...
I went to an anime convention once with a steampunk roleplay going on. And you're right! The most distinguished man in that roleplay WAS wearing a suit. Steampunk is a great situation to wear a suit in.
ReplyDeleteIs there any situation that isn't great to wear a suit in?
ReplyDeleteclothes make the man, my man

ReplyDeleteman, what suit do you personally wear?
ReplyDeleteutubed.blogspot.com
Haha! Nice suit? :P
ReplyDeleteDude the name of this blog reminded me of Barney from how I met your mother.
ReplyDeletei really like steampunk art.
ReplyDeleteI think your posts are so original. I dont get the whole steam punk thing. Do people actually wear this in public? I've seen it all over the anime/comic conventions I got to but never in real life. I do not think a guy looks hot wearing this stuff.
ReplyDeleteI hope people don't wear this in real life. Someone suggested I write about this, and honestly I'm more interested in the technology than the clothing. I would much rather wear an actual suit, than one of these.
ReplyDeleteLove steam punk. a3
